My Story
Tirzah’s journey through breast cancer, survivorship, and now metastatic breast cancer exemplifies courage, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others.

At the age of 36, Tirzah was diagnosed with Estrogen-positive, Progesterone low-positive, HER2-negative invasive carcinoma. Living in Saskatoon with her husband, Ricky Forbes, and their two children, Vayda and Mason, she faced her diagnosis head-on, choosing to become an advocate for young women’s health. Her mission was to emphasize the importance of early detection, self-advocacy, and creating a supportive community for those affected by breast cancer.

Through raw and heartfelt storytelling on platforms like TikTok, Tirzah’s message resonated with millions worldwide. By sharing her journey openly, she inspired and empowered other women navigating similar challenges, fostering a sense of hope and solidarity.

Her advocacy extended to public speaking at significant events, including serving as the Hope Speaker for the CIBC Run for the Cure. Her compelling story helped raise vital funds for the Canadian Cancer Society, supporting research and life-changing programs. Tirzah’s reach grew further through appearances on platforms such as C95 FM’s Radio Marathon for Breast Cancer Research and Natalie Jill’s podcast Midlife Conversations, where she shared her message of hope, resilience, and the critical importance of early detection.

Locally, Tirzah played an active role in fundraising events like the Choc’ La Cure Fashion Show in Saskatoon, where she modeled and helped raise funds for breast cancer research. Her commitment to grassroots advocacy connected her deeply with her community, encouraging others to join the fight against breast cancer.
In 2021, Tirzah turned her passion for photography into a business, launching Tirzah May Photography. Following her diagnosis, she merged her creativity with her advocacy by organizing impactful Breast Cancer Awareness photoshoots. In 2023, she partnered with Wigs.com to feature the stories of eight survivors from Saskatchewan. The following year, this passion project expanded to include 25 survivors, with Tirzah collaborating with Saskatoon’s C95 radio station to help promote their annual breast cancer research fundraiser.

After completing treatment, Tirzah was declared cancer-free and looked forward to a bright future with her family. However, in March of 2026, she received the devastating news that her breast cancer had returned as Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer, spreading to her lungs, liver, and bones.

Faced with another unimaginable challenge, Tirzah made the decision to continue sharing her story with the same honesty and vulnerability that had inspired so many during her first diagnosis. Through documenting her treatment, sharing both the difficult and hopeful moments, and advocating for greater awareness of metastatic breast cancer, she continues to remind others that there is still life, purpose, joy, and hope after a Stage 4 diagnosis.

Today, Tirzah remains dedicated to raising awareness, supporting fellow patients and survivors, and using her voice to educate others about the realities of breast cancer. Her mission has evolved beyond early detection to include bringing greater visibility to metastatic breast cancer while encouraging people to live fully, love deeply, and never take a single day for granted.

Through her advocacy, storytelling, photography, and unwavering spirit, Tirzah has become a beacon of hope for those impacted by breast cancer. Her journey is a powerful reminder that while cancer may be part of a person's story, it does not define who they are. Her strength, compassion, and determination continue to inspire others to face life's challenges with courage and grace.
